The US, India, Australia, and Japan members of Quadrilateral Security dialogue held the first ever leaders level meeting since President Joe Biden took his office.

QUAD is a regional alliance of four nations to counter China’s increasing military and economic power in the Indo-Pacific region. During the meeting the leaders discussed the free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region along with China, coronavirus, and climate change.

Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine is set to be manufactured in India and would initially focus to deliver to South East India, the US said.

We committed to delivering up to one billion doses with the help of Indian manufacturing, US technology, Japanese and American financing, and Australian logistics: US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

The vaccines would be available to the Association of SouthEast Asian Nations (Asean) as well as the Pacific and beyond.

With the initial approval of WHO the Indian company Biological LTD will manufacture the extra doses of Johnson & Johnson jab.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter after the virtual meeting. PM Modi said “Reiterated India’s commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific in line with our vision of SAGAR - Security and Growth for All in the Region.”

In another tweet PM hailed QUAD partnership to ensure accessibility of safe covid-19 vaccines

"To ramp up the manufacturing and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines the four countries have agreed to a plan to pool their financial resources, manufacturing capabilities and... and logistical strengths" Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said.

“We’re renewing our commitment to ensure that our region is governed by international law, committed to upholding universal values, and free from coercion” said President Joe Biden.
